Arts consultancy and management

Previous work

Sharon Kivity founded the Visions Festival in 1994 partnered by the University of Brighton. The festival aimed to champion contemporary puppetry and animated theatre, then seen by some as a “poor relation” to mainstream theatre. Under Sharon’s direction, the festival helped to discover Improbable Theatre (who later went on to create the acclaimed Shockheaded Peter). The festival also brought many international companies to the UK for the first time.  Sharon’s role, in addition to artistic direction, was to secure funds for the festival, oversee marketing and to make links nationally and internationally. Sharon has also programmed festivals specialising in dance or street theatre, as well as those which embrace a variety of art forms such as classical music, film and theatre.

She has undertaken consultancies for many arts organisations and charities including Theatre-Rites, engage, Listening Books and Common Purpose.

Sharon worked as a consultant with Theatre-Rites during some of our most exciting and productive years. She supported Theatre-Rites with her exceptional fundraising and marketing skills, securing grants and commissions for a number of high profile co-productions with organisations including the Barbican, Young Vic, the British Library and Sadlers Wells.  In addition, her strong international contacts enabled Theatre-Rites to continue to build our profile in Europe.
